Inspiration for this week's blog came from couples I've met at recent Sussex wedding fairs. Asking about the type of wedding being planned, the words I heard most were "relaxed", "outdoorsy", "informal". Elizabeth and Chris' wedding last summer was all of those things and more. The couple lives in my home town of Shoreham-by-Sea in Sussex, but while Chris is British, Elizabeth is originally from America, and wanted to treat their family and friends to a celebration of English culture - complete with historic castle, string quartet, vintage tea and scones, and oodles of bunting and lace.
On the day, I was more than a little relieved that the only "un-British" thing was the weather! Happily the couple were blessed with glorious day-long sunshine, ending in a stunning sunset over Shoreham Beach. A quick change into some sparkly flats for the bride, and Elizabeth and Chris ended their special day right on the pebbled beach, with a beautiful sunset walk, plus a magical sparkler arch to celebrate with their guests. A truly perfect English wedding.
And if you're planning a relaxed and natural wedding yourself, please do get in touch - I'd love to hear from you!
