I first met Claudia at The Fairy Tale Fair - a fantastic, high quality craft and vintage fair held in Brighton. Claudia sells gorgeous handmade jewellery and artwork under the label Claudia Made This, and I was first invited to photograph her and other local craft makers back in 2013. I returned to the fair several times since, both with and without my camera (my daughter loves spending her pocket money on the arts and crafts activities!), enjoying seeing the same friendly faces each time. So when Claudia contacted me to ask would I be available to photograph her wedding to James, I was thrilled!
We arranged for me to meet James at The Grand, their Eastbourne venue, and after silver service tea and biscuits (rude not to), walked around the magnificent hotel, discussing the wedding plans and great photo opportunities. Several weeks' later we re-convened on Shoreham Beach for the chance to get to know each other better over a pre-wedding shoot. Even camera-shy James admitted it was actually quite fun and they loved the photos... maybe that was the reason they hired a gorgeous vintage Rolls-Royce to take me with them up to Beachy Head for some quiet couple time away after the ceremony. Either way it was an inspired move, providing a stunning backdrop for their couple photos, lit by the late summer sun. And the chance for them to have some fresh air and couple time alone (well, almost alone - I stood back with a long lens!). After the wedding breakfast and some great speeches, we made the most of the period architecture at the Grand for a few more sneaky couple pics, before dancing the night away in the elaborate ballroom. An amazing, amazing day.
I'll be heading back to Eastbourne this Sunday (22nd February) for the Silver Lined Wedding Fair at another stunning Eastbourne venue, All Saints Chapel. So if you've recently got engaged, please do pop by. Can't make it? Don't worry, I'll come to you - simply fill in this contact form for price info and date availability.
