On meeting Hannah & Steve - at a wedding fair in Hove, if you're interested, run by the lovely Zara of Wild Strawberry Events - I warmed to them immediately. They were friendly and smiled a lot, and I remember thinking then that they would naturally take very happy, relaxed photos. Fast forward almost a year, and I got the chance to prove my theory, as the three of us convened on the beach in January for their pre-wedding couple shoot.
Hannah initially blamed the laughter on their nerves, and on her reservations about being photographed as she "never takes a good picture". But as I stood further back, long lens attached, any nervous laughter was quickly replaced by genuine happiness for each other, and their upcoming Spring wedding. They took my gentle direction (eg "just find a place to sit on the rocks, talk and pretend it's not cold!") as an excuse just to hang out, laugh lots with each other and decide that the camera wasn't that scary after all!
"Thank you so much, had a quick peak and absolutely love them. Will take a further look tonight when we are both home from work, can't wait! - Excited for [our wedding in] May now. Thanks again for making it so enjoyable" Hannah & Steve
Lovely feedback, particularly to know that our hour together on the beach has helped them to relax and trust me ahead of their big day. For couples nervous about being photographed at their wedding (and many I meet are), having a pre-wedding shoot can be invaluable preparation, reducing the stress by giving them confidence in how they'll look - it's my job to make people look good! - and in my unobtrusive style of photography. This is what we got up to...
I can't wait for their wedding in May either!
