Welcome to my wedding stories blog!

I tell wedding stories. From the bridal preparations in the morning, to partying in the evening.  If you're looking for a  super relaxed documentary photographer to tell the story of your special day, please grab a cuppa and have a browse.

I recommend starting with my Best of 2022 wedding storytelling video for inspiration and to get a good feel for my style.

The quality of my work is recognised by the prestigious Master Photographers Association (MPA), with whom I'm a fully qualified Licentiate, as well as by key world-leading industry organisations representing documentary photographers.  I'm proud to have received multiple awards from the MPA, This is Reportage; Photographers Keeping it Real; and The Wedding Photojournalist Association, including a Top 100 Global Ranking from the WPJA.

But the most important recognition comes from my clients, whose wonderful feedback you can read here.  Please take a look at some of my recent work and do get in touch - I'd love to hear from you.

Why do I need a pre-wedding shoot? Seven great reasons to book one!

If you've been researching photographers for your wedding, chances are you'll have come across the term 'pre-wedding shoot', sometimes referred to as a 'couple shoot' or 'engagement shoot'. You probably get the general idea of what it's about, but might be wondering whether it's something you actually need or want, or whether it's just an extra thi...

Best of 2021 | experience an incredible year of wedding storytelling in just two minutes!

Wow, what a year that was! After the gentle pace of intimate, mostly half-day weddings in 2020, followed by a complete shut down of the industry in the first half of 2021, last year's wedding season was full on! Determined not to let any of my couples down, I duly squeezed 12+ months of weddings into just 6, barely coming up for air in July and Au...

Brighton Harbour Hotel Wedding | Ella & David

Oops, bit late with my blog this month but I've actually been quite busy! Not with weddings (obviously) but with volunteering at a vaccine centre in Brighton and a food bank too. Yes, it's great to be giving something back to the local Covid effort in my downtime, but selfishly, I'm just enjoying having physical work to do that involves getting out...

Brookfield Barn Wedding | Caroline & Bhavin

Well, that's January nearly over! It's been a tough month, with the combination of grey drizzle (sadly no snow for us down on the coast) and the continued uncertainly surrounding weddings. As I write, I have just two couples holding out for small weddings in April and May, with all my other weddings from the start of the year now postponed. So whi...

Sussex Church & Marquee Wedding | Halley & Anthony

Hello and welcome (back) to my blog! As I write, I'm really excited that we're coming out of lockdown this week, and weddings can resume. Happily I have two lovely couples who've opted to downsize their special days in December and go ahead with 15 of their nearest and dearest. Those of you who've read my previous blog post all about small weddings...

Bartholomew Barn Wedding | Sarah & Tom

Ouch! Like many of my couples and colleagues, I'm still reeling from another emotional rollercoaster of a month. Weddings from 6, to 15, to 30, back to 15 thanks to Government decisions around how best to curb Covid, plus the venues' interpretation of how they can legally and safely apply the rules. Simply impossible for anyone to plan for, and men...

Sussex Seaside Wedding | Sarah & Jason

Quick Coronavirus wedding update! It's all relative in these Covid times, but I've actually been pretty busy since last month's blog; I've been fortunate enough to shoot three intimate weddings in July. At my last one, which was yesterday at the time of writing, the couple and their immediate family were permitted to have canapés and a wedding cak...

Outdoor Festival Wedding, Rye Island in West Sussex | Marlies & Jeroen

So, wedding ceremonies are back! Just the small ones, no singing, no confetti and certainly no canapés or ceIebratory drinks, but it's a start. I actually have my first post-lockdown wedding at the end of next week, and potentially a second the following day pending confirmation from the registrar. Both fewer than 15 all in and of course minus the...

Long Furlong Barn Wedding | Hannah & Kieran

Hello! As I write, it's week 10 of lockdown and things are looking up in the photography world! Photographic studios will be allowed to open in three weeks' time (from 15 June as things currently stand) and whilst I don't have a studio, being solely focused on weddings, it seems an appropriate time to resume pre-wedding shoots with my couples. The...

Intimate Brighton Wedding | Clair & René

Hello and welcome to my blog! In this latest post I'm telling the story of Clair and René's intimate Brighton wedding, a wonderful August day shared with just 20 close family members - including the couple's two young children and five of their little cousins and friends. Why choose a smaller wedding? Couples opt for smaller weddings for many re...
