Week 51: A Touch of Winter Frost

December 25, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

If you're anything like me, you'll have eaten too much, drank too much and generally be in need of fresh air and nature.  It's probably raining as you read this (unless of course you're one of my sun-soaked Florida friends), and you don't feel like going out, so let me transport you there virtually with this week's images!

It was the Friday before Christmas - a gloriously sunny morning, but with a heavy ground frost.  My disgruntled daughter and I had skidded our way to school on icy pavements for her last day.  She was not a happy bunny:  her secondary school-age brother had broken up two days earlier and looked up momentarily from his X-box to gloat, the epitome of couch potato, sunk into a huge beanbag and wearing a bear onesie.

As we walked, I hatched a plan for this blog, but with the sun ever warmer, I knew I didn't have long.  So I placated said daughter with promises of doughnuts after school, then rushed back home as quickly as the slippery parts allowed, found an old towel to kneel on, and set up my tripod low to the ground in our back garden.  Being North-facing, the frost was still clinging on to fallen leaves and blades of grass.  I put on my macro lens and looked for interesting patterns and shapes in the flora.  This is the rather beautiful result.  Enjoy!

Well, this has been the penultimate blog post of my 2013 Shoreham-by-Sea Photographic Project.  I really hope you've enjoyed my images, and would love to receive as many of your likes and comments as possible - on my blog or on facebook, I'm easy! -  to finish off the year.  So if you're one of my many readers who've dipped in on a regular basis, but never responded, now's the time!

I'll be bringing you the project finale early in 2014....  but for now, goodbye, and have a great New Year! - Jenny x
