Hello and welcome to my blog! As a Sussex wedding photographer, finding time to blog in the Summer months is challenging to say the least, but I'm determined to publish Jamie and Peter's super relaxed pre-wedding shoot before their big day.
As I write, Jamie and Peter will be tying the knot tomorrow, at picturesque Selden Barns near Worthing. OK, so it's set to be the hottest day of the year so far, with potential thunderstorms to boot, but I can't wait! We had such a great time on their shoot, and although Peter was a little camera-shy to begin with, he quickly relaxed and just enjoyed the chance of a romantic stroll along the beach with his husband-to-be, Jamie.
The two men were such great company, and we spent a lot of time chatting, laughing, and even doing a bit of running for some great action shots! (I say we...) I really enjoyed the time we spent getting to know each other, as I do with all couples when we do our pre-wedding shoots. It makes a world of difference when it comes to the wedding day, and they feel like they already know me and trust that I'll produce flattering images on the day itself.
I've captured several lesbian weddings over the past few years, and loved all of them! The thing that stands out for me about gay weddings is not the fact that the couples are of the same sex (which is of no relevance to me apart from just a slightly different approach to directing their couple photos). Rather, it's that the weddings have a different feel about them, with the couples tending to feel completely un-bound by tradition, leading to a generally more relaxed and less formal day.
With gay marriage having only recently been legalised in the UK, the idea of having to follow marriage traditions that go back centuries is of little relevance, and most of my same-sex wedding couples have picked out those traditions they like and discarded the rest without a second thought. Jamie and Peter's will be my first gay male wedding and I'm so excited to be a part of the day they have planned. Thanks for choosing me guys!
Hi Jenny,
Thank you for the photos, we absolutely love them! Thank you again for a great experience, we really did enjoy it and the pictures are amazing. We're very much looking forward to the big day, and so glad that you're going to be capturing it for us.
Jamie & Pete x
I hope you enjoyed the images. Now off to clean my lenses in preparation for Jamie and Peter's big day tomorrow! And I'm hoping to fit in a quick dip in the sea too :) Could be optimistic given my workload, but maybe by writing it here, I can work a little smarter and make it happen. I'm pretty sure that maintaining a good work-life balance is the secret to enjoying each and every wedding I do, and to challenging myself to create something special for each and every client.
On that note, bye!
