Hello there! I'm super excited this week as my Easter shout out for pre-wedding shoot bookings has resulted in ten new dates in the diary!
Not only does that equate to ten fun reasons to leave the house, but it's a great opportunity to get to know the remainder of my 2021 wedding couples over the next few weeks (plus a couple of super keen ones whose weddings aren't until 2022).
If you're not sure what a pre-wedding shoot is, then the easiest way to explain it is going for a walk in relaxed suroundings, typically on the beach or in the South Downs, and taking a few super chilled photos along the way. Simply helping my couples to feel at ease with the camera so that on the big day they can forget all about it. And of course, they'll receive some lovely casual photos of the two of them to keep.
Although I was lucky to be able to capture ten weddings in 2020, it still feels a long time since I got my cameras out properly in December. Now that two households are legally allowed to meet up outside, I literally can't wait to get going again!
Lindsey & James at Long Furlong Barn
Today I'm blogging the story of Lindsey and James' beautiful wedding day at one of my regular venues, picturesque Long Furlong Barn in West Sussex. It's a venue I absolutely love photographing at, so I'm happy to be booked for weddings there several times a year.
Lindsey and James' wedding was on a lovely Summer's Day in June. The bride looked amazing in a stunning strapless gown from The Bride Shop, Crawley, and opted for natural-looking hair and make up, for which Kimberley Louise Make Up (who specialises in natural make up artistry) and Laura of Pinnies Hair were the perfect choice.
Because my photography style is very natural and makes the most of scenic land- and seascapes, I tend to find that couples who love my images are often outdoorsy types who feel more comfortable with a natural make up look. As such I work with Kimberley Louise and Laura regularly and am always happy to recommend them.
During the cocktail hour the couple's 50 or so guests were entertained in the sunny courtyard by The Moonshine Jazz Band, who performed vintage jazz and swing hits from the 1920s-1940s. You can't beat a bit of live music at weddings, whether it's a classical quintet after the ceremony or pop cover band on the dancefloor. Always makes for a lovely atmosphere and gets people dancing - in this case, one of the little flower girls as you'll see in the images below.
After a delicious meal by in-house caterers Circa Events followed by some truly lovely speeches and a nice cup of tea (I'm always up for a little shot of caffeine at that point in the day!), DJ Sound Division got everyone going again.
While the guests were dancing, I managed to sneak outside with Lindsey and James to make the most of the beautiful soft sunlight for a few evening portraits. They particularly wanted a photo under the ceremony arch, so after the sun dipped below the horizon I quickly added a light behind them for a final romantic portrait before returning to their quests.
Long Furlong Barn has so many great places for photos, at Summer weddings when daylight hours are long, I often take a few post-ceremony and a few more in a different part of the grounds in the evening. It doesn't need to take long, but just ensures you'll have some lovely natural couple photos from your wedding day.
Here's a few kind words from the newly weds:
"Jenny made us feel so at ease on our wedding day.
She is an outstanding talent, and we were over the moon with both our photographs from our engagement shoot and wedding day.
She captured some truly special moments which we will treasure for our lifetime and beyond.
Thank you Jenny!!"

I hope you enjoy this little peek into each part of their wedding day through my storytelling images:
